Anyone know about wire harness for a head unit for a honda civic 95?
stripping the colors. and attaching it the harness to the headunit but seams to go on when i touch the yellow wire and red wire then about 5 secs later it shut off. then when i would press power button it would not go on at all

Oh yea, sorry but i forgot to tell you, whats the difference between the switch 12v wire and the constant 12v wire?

Well you might have blown a fuse. check your fuses. It's best to take your negitive battery terminal off before messing with anything electrical. And the difference between switch and constant is this, switched means it only has power when the key is in the on or acc positon. Constant has power at all times.

Where did you ground the deck to ? Make sure that the ground is good and that it is not loose or connected to a painted surface.

I'm not sure where the ground is to. I followed it as far back as i could . and its a black wire that goes into the plastic lube.

check to make sure that you are getting the right voltage to the memory wire(yellow). I did an install and the guy before me did work on the jeep, he hacked the whole wiring so bad, not just the stereo but everything else. Well the guy wanted a cd player put in and new speakers, Well I ran new speaker wires so that wasn't a problem. but the power, ahh yes power(who needs power anyways), The ground wasn't a problem, the Acc was a pain but I found a good sorce. AND now the memory wire the fun part. The wire the guy had been using powered some lights and the door chime. Well I hooked up to that not thinking anything of it. The head unit did the same thing. It would turn on then off then on then off. It came down to not having enough power at the wire. I have a jumper made with a fuse in it that i use for trouble shooting problems, put an aligator click on both ends. Connect one to the battery, run it outside the car and connect it to the HU. If that solves your problem well then you know you need to A)find a new wire or B) run a wire from the batter to the HU. Make sure to put a fuse in it. most likely you will only need a 10 or 15 amp fuse, this is to protect the wire from shorting out. I would definatly try the jumper. and if that doesn't work then try the ground. It sounds to be one of those. Hope that helps,

Ok, Problem solved. And only cost'd me $40
Took it to good guys.
I took a peak and this is what he did
clipped off everything and started from scrtach.
cut about 4 wires that had a fuse on it. He said they were neccessary. Took the harness and connected exactly what i was connecting.
Changed the fused under hood. and voila it worked.
toook about 30mins.
May i add. Son of a gun. All i should have done was did that and i would have been fine.
Also the head unit was a JVC and the harness was a sony. For some reason he told me that it affected the balance and the fade tru?
Also for that honda civic 95
He showed me were to run my 8 guage power wire.
theres a spot in the middle of car with a rubber cover. told me to peel that off or drill a hole through it and run the 8 gauge power wire.
Wow only costed me $40 to learn that.
Jeez what has the world come to.

Now onto a new project. Running the powering wire to the back of the trunk. along with the RCA and remote wire.
any suggestions?
