I have a Pioneer DEH-P5450 head unit running front / rear speakers straight from it and an amp / 12" sub from the Rear/Sub RCA output... I just bought an Alpine MRV-340 amp and some focal components and 6x9's but im not sure how to correctly connect between the head unit and the amp... want to run the compenents and 6x9 from it... Can anyone give me fairly detailed instructions?

All you need to do is run one set of RCA's back to your 4 channel amp and then get two sets of RCA splitters.  This will allow you to hook up all 4 of your speakers, but you will lose fade and balance control.  I would recommend a radio with triple preouts.

The Pioneer has 2 sets of preouts, so it is fine.  I just did a bunch of posting here for an Alpine 2 channel amp, I couldn't find info on your model.  Is it two channel or four?

Ahhh, I misunderstood the question, and for some reason I was thinking the 340 was a 4 channel amp.  Disregard my first post.

And you may be right, tools.  I searched for the 340, and read info on another model, then realized I couldn't find a model 340.

I found he 340, It is a 4 channel.  I am still confused... you are running subs already, so now you want to hook up a 4 channel?

Looks like an amp/sub combo run off the front + sub preout.  So what you said about splitters is what he wants here, right?  One set of RCA's, split to front and rear of the amp.  Lose fade control, but balance should be fine, shouldn't it manoftools?

I agree.  Yes, if you pay attention to how you hook it up you can keep your balance, but you will lose your fade.  Who the hell uses them anyway???
