Whats better for SPL and overall loudest.  1ohm with 600WRMS or 2ohms with 300WRMS pumping it?

I'm lost as to what you are saying. 600 watts is twice the power, so it is likely to be louder if it was the same driver (install dependant of course).

But if you are refering to 2 differant drivers alltogether there is a heck of alot more involved than that.

I think you are asking the wrong question, It should be how do I get the most power out of my amp. Also you can't go either 1 ohm or 2 ohm with just the amp. This is done with the subs and how you wire them.

By drivers I mean speakers.

The lower the load (resistance) the greater the power that can travel. But see, I can take a Sony Xplod 12 inch sub and run it at 1 ohm, giving it 600 WRMS, and I can take an Eclipse TI and run it at 300 WRMS and be louder in similar installs. Now, give me 2 Sony's or 2 TIs and they will be louder with 600 watts over 300 watts any day. That is, untill the Sony blows up 30 seconds after you send it 600 wattsposted_image

Yes I know, My amp and my subs are capable of doing so.  Im going to let a professional install them i just wanted to see which way i should tell him to run them thats all.

sorry sandt38, Replyed to this post before you posted. I have 2 10's they are 2004 L7's. I got the kicker 1200.1 amp to power them. What is the best setup to get the greatest SPL from my amp. Like you said about  "the greater the power that can travel"

Just tell the professional installer that you're aiming for maximum SPL and he will get you the most out of the system.

The reason I leave it like that before you have someone install it is because you are getting it installed by a pro, not doing it yourself.  And if you're like all the rest of us you will get it installed right away.  There is a lot to learn in a short day.  The installer will see what the impedence of the subs are and what the amp will be able to handle, and knowing you want LOUD above anything else, will set it up that way.

But that doesn't mean you have to stop learning about it.  Keep asking on this forum and things will start making clear sense.  There are a lot of experienced pro's who share here.
