2 JL audio 10" w3's 250 rms 14.7mm
2 Orion 15" XTR3's 250 rms... Xmax 7.75mm
Would it be dramatically louder, way louder, or slightly louder?

i dunno man. I went online to look for specs on that Orion. I couldnt find any, but i was looking cuz 7.75mm xmax seemed wayyy too low for a 15" sub. and the 14.7 seems kinda high for a 10". u sure you didnt get them backwards?

The W3s were known for their high excursion.

Yea, It kinda bums me out that the Xmax on the 15" woofers that hasn't even got to my house yet(by monday) isn't even close to my two tens that Im selling to get more spl. Second opinions, which will be louder, the two tens or two 15's. ------------- Head Unit:Pioneer-Deh-1600

typically, a 15 would be much louder than a 10, due to surace area, and USUALLY a larger xmax. but in this case, it seems to have about half the movement. However, 2 15's, or 2 10's, the fifteens should still be able to move more air. You might wanna check out the specs on those orions again man. I dont think i've ever seen a 15 with such a low xmax. 14.7 aint that high for a sub, usually what a 12" sub would do. But 7??? i dunno. kinda creepy. lol ------------- 1990 Honda Civic HB:

It also depends if the measurement is one way for one sub and both ways for the other. My bet is the 15" subs if they are in the proper box.
