I have a Fultron Depth Charge DC-400W amp. (Pre-cursor to Memphis Audio for those who are wondering)It has 2 25amp fuses. I also have an Audiobahn A6004T 75Wx4 amp with 2 25amp fuses.
I'm planning on running 4-gauge power wire to a distribution block and 8 gauge to the amps. The distribution block I have has 2 30 amp fuses in it.
Will an inline 60amp fuse (near the battery) and these two 30amp fuses be sufficient for these two amps?
I plan on upgrading the sub amp to the Audiobahn 8002T, which has 2 30amp fuses. Will this upgrade require any more upgrades as far as the power wire/fuses are concerned?
Also, I have always wondered what kind of power the DC-400 has. Does anyone know the specs on this amp? I assume it is 400W max. No idea about RMS, or what it pushes in two-channel mode.
The total fuse rating of the two amplifiers is 100 amps. The power wire should have a 100 amp fuse, and the block should have two 50's, so use a distro block that will handle that amperage. But you can use the fuse ratings you described if you want, since you can always fuse lower but not higher. Depends on the usage of the amps.
My guess (and it is just a guess) on that amp, if it's an older Memphis, is that it is rated at 4 ohm RMS, not "max". If you have been wondering about its power, you should read the speaker outputs and find the voltage, using a multimeter.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
its always good to have the same amp fuse in your inline holder than the total that you got in your amps.

always looking for new info and willing to give it
Fultron. Haven't heard that name in a few years. That was Arthur Fulmer's company and changed its name to Memphis in the late 90's. Excellent quality equipment. Arthur Fulmer was an early car audio innovater and invented the "Belle" 5-channel design. "Depth Charge" was Fultron's entry-level line. I believe the DC-400 was a class AB stereo amp and should be rated at 200 watts X2 into 4 ohms RMS. Memphis continued the Depth Charge line for a few years so they may still have technical info on it.
