Something like this works great.  I did this a few years ago in college to combat some loud neighbors.  Nothing like the bass from 2 12" car subs ripping through some thin walls.  :-)

I am running same stuff , after having several systems , I collected left overs and put all together in my SOFABAD (HEHE)  ,2x12 type R  are giving enough juice while you are watching movie.
You mention you arleady have equipment , just get power supply and enjoy. If you didnt have , I wouldnt recommend , in overall probably you would end up more than just buying home sysytem ..

Just be aware of the limited current available in such power supplies.  You are always better off simply buying an amplifier designed for use on 120V (or whatever is the standard in your country) house power.

save it for your car it's not worth the trouble. a home system will sound much better in your house. as Dyohn said it will be hard to find a power supply. the biggest power supply I can get is only 40 amps. Thats plenty for a bench top, but not enough for a "system".
