ohms help please

i need some help. i am new to the car audio world. i have a hifonicks amp i think its a m1000d. It says it can be run 1 ohm, at 1000 watts, 2 ohms at 750 watts, and 4 ohms at 350 watts. i have three mtx 6000 subs. i bieleve they are two ohm subs. all three are wired normally + and - then come to a meet at the plug on the back of the box. im not positive but i dont think im getting all i can out of this amp. any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

3 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Parallel / Parallel
Connecting the two voice coils of each driver in parallel (+ to +, - to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel will result in the following impedances:
Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 1 Ohm
Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.67 Ohm
Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.33 Ohm |

BTW : Make sure that the amp is stable for less than .5 ohm loads.

isn't it 6 ohm dual vioce coil 2x so in parallel you'll get 3 an so on 4=2 im confuse

my subs are mtx 6000 they are not dual voice coil though. and i made a mistake before they are 4 ohm subs. thanks

Three SVC 4-ohm subs in parallel will result in a 1.33 ohm net load on the amp. This is the "best" in terms of squeezing every bit of power and achieving highest SPL that you can do with this equipment. You probably have a Brutus BX1000D, which can handle this load and will deliver approximately 800 watts RMS, or 260 watts or so to each woofer. This is about perfect for an MTX 6000, which is rated for 250 watts. Set your input sensitivity (gain) properly and you will get the "most" out of this setup. Now let's back up a second, do you have one of those pre-loaded MTX enclosures with three 6000 series subs in it? If so, they are supposedly factory wired for a net 4-ohm load on the amp. Your Hifonics will deliver approximately 350 watts into 4-ohms. ------------- Support the12volt.com

The diagram that you have from Rockford is a parallel to series hook up. look at the driver's ( they are hooked up in parallel and the voice coils of each driver's are hooked up in series ). This will result in a higher impedance load on the system. ------------- Jeff

yes it is one of those preloaded boxes from mtx. if i pull the subs out there is + and- from each sub then three wires come together where the clips are for the input on the back of the box

The woofers in that enclosure are 12-ohm speakers. Three of them in parallel get you to a 4-ohm net load. Your amplifier is operating into 4-ohms (which is just fine) and generating 350 watts. In order to get the most "pound" out of that pre-fab enclosure system, you need an amplifier capable of 750 watts into 4-ohms. ------------- Support the12volt.com

i dont think there 12 ohms. i dont think mtx offers the 12" in 12 ohms. i know they offer the 10" in 12 ohms. this is driving me crazy because i had a fosgate 500a2 its like 7 years old. i replaced it with the hifonicks and i think the fosgate amp hit harder. any light on this situation. thanks!!!!!!

As far as I know all the MTX pre-fab three-driver systems use their custom 12-ohm speakers. I am not sure if they sell these seperately. The Punch amp is rated at 500 watts into 4-ohms when bridged, so it delivered 150 more watts than the Hifonics is capable of. The Hifonics is a cleaner amp most likely, but it is not as powerful into a 4-ohm load. Sorry. ------------- Support the12volt.com

i pulled one sub out it said 8 ohms on the sub. witch according to the caculator it comes to 2.677 ohms. witch then means my amp is pushing 750 watts. but then why would my 500 fosgate hit harder any light on the situation?

That would be 750 for 2 ohms, not 2.67 ohms, according to your earlier post. Figure less wattage accordingly.
