I have infinity reference 6.5 coaxials in the back of my car and infinity reference 6.5 components up front. I'm looking for a deck to power them, I don't want to set up an amp at this time.
I need a head unit that has AUX in because i keep all my music on my iPod. Since cost is a factor for me right now, I'm wondering which decks people would recomend from say, aiwa, blaupunkt, kenwood, panosonic, pioneer and sony. These brands all seem to have decent specs at prices within my range. Which offer the best overall performance? Sound, etc. I haven't yet had a chance to go listen to all these brands, and all are not available to me. I would be thankful for any advice.
Thanks
Galen

You'll probably be disappointed with the components on tiny head unit power.  What is the max you want to spend?

Take Aiwa off the list asap though :-)

once they start hitting 160, it's feelin a little steep. I'm cheap though... sooo. I have an old rockford 460sd, would this be good for powering the components? I don't know much about it, it was given to my by a friend. Thanks

Before the iPods were out, I use to run audio out of my laptop on trips in my old Chevy truck. During then when MP3 head untis were new, I had a Blaupunkt MP3000. I put some RCA jacks on the side of the deck so I could just plug in any auxilary I wanted. I'm sure there are better decks now, but considering you are looking for cheap and plan to use your iPod instead, then that would probably be a good start for one.

Rockford 460sd - yes!  use it!  Amp power will be way better than head unit power.

Then, in that price range .. I'd probably consider this:

and the $15.00 aux input adapter on the "Recommended Accessories" page.

Might want to shop around if you want to save even more money, but I think something like this would work great.

Yes, the Monte Carlo is a great deck and since it's last year's model you can find them for around $150 right now, which is half the original MSRP.  Of the brands you listed in the first post, the only one I would seriously consider as far as sound quality and genuine amplifier power is Blaupunkt.
