In my 2 1/2 years I have yet to have to do one but I have seen them done where the installers have just wires RCA plugs on to the wires behind the deck. Looked pretty hackish but it seemed to work.

Call crutchfield, Tell them you ordered one of their headunits and your installing it. Tell them you looked thru the booklet about your car they sent you and you JUST CANT FIND THE FACTORY AMP. They will tell u exactly where it is. atleast they told me. hope that helps

Crutchfield will not help you.  They will ask for an order number to verify you purchased it from them.  You could ask them you are interested in buying but you are afraid of all the wiring and they probably will advise you from there.  Good luck.

Visteon's Mach 460 system delivers a total of 230 watts RMS (15 watts X 4 for mains, 60 watts X 2 for 5X7" subs.)  Thier Mach 1000 system adds four additional sub amps and two 10" subs in specialized enclosures in teh trunk plus two additional 5X7" subs.  So in the 460 system there are three amps, and in the 1000 system there are 7 amps. These systems are (as far as I know) only available for Mustangs.  If you have trouble locating the pieces of the system for an install, call any Ford dealer and speak to the service department, or purchase the FOMOCO wiring diagrams.

Each sub in the Visteon has its own 60 watt mono amplifier.  The Monsoon system is made by (I believe) Delco.

my problem is bypassing them, for the coupe they are in the rear accessable from the trunk, and the convertible, take the trunk lining down and the two amps are there, and for the 3rd amp its hidden in the front infront of the shifter, but my problem is how to rewire, i cant figure out the wires, and wondered how you guys rewire them without running new wire to each speaker, my other question is what are the tricks to finding factory amps? like the mustang i just new cause its my type of car, but other cars customer cars..whats the the trick?

There are wiring harnesses available to bypass some factory amplified system.  And finding the amps is a combination of experience, asking others, and getting the manufacturer's wiring and shop manuals.  If you can't get or build a harness to bypass OEM amps, the best and easiest thing to do is to run new speaker wires.  Time consuming sometimes, but the best solution in many cases.
