I want to know the basis behind the design of the CV stroker. I heard a 15 a couple days ago in a big ported box and it was pretty loud but sounded like absolue sh*t. I had to laugh to myself when he said he used his car for SQ competions. I asked if he ment SPL but he said that he ment SQ. Had to just laugh and walk away.

"Stroker" is simply a brand name for Cerwin Vega's SPL competion line of subs. They have pretty large excursion capabilities so they can generate big SPL numbers in the right ported enclosure. They only have frequency response doen to 36Hz and even in a properly tuned enclosure are -5db to -10db at 20Hz. Pretty crappy for SQ. Their 18" can really move some air, though. ------------- Support the12volt.com

But what about the bullet in the center. Thats what I was talking about. I dont understand the concept of the silver bullet, unlss of course we are in werewolf country.

Thats a great explanation but the funny thing is that it is suposed to help out with sound quality but they still sound like a sub par sq sub

Isn't that little nub/bullet thing what actually mounts the motor of the sub to the cone? But yeah, they can be loud but generally sound like crap.

The silver thing in the centre is to support the front spider, one of the tricks of this sub was to adjust this to fine tune the note you need. The sub is really tune to achieve one note and do it well for spl.
