If i grabbed two of these, would one 1200 mono amp power both of these with 600 watts each, or would i have to get two monoblock amps. Any suggesstions on what to push these with is needed, thanks.

Actually that is a little too much power for the Shiva.  We usually recomend about 400 watts at the most.  They really don't need any more power than that.  What size/type of enclosure are you going to use?

If you already have the amp, then I say use it and just be careful with the gains and volume knob.  With two of those subs, it should be insanely loud.

I don't have an amp right now.. i'm still considering my options, but i'm stumped with all this because i don't quite understand the ohm loads. shiva's are 8ohm? and also did you mean 400 watts for both or 400 per sub? and which amp could you recommend me? thank you

Also, about the enclosure..again i'm very new to car audio. I have a 96 eclipse, and want a ported enclosure that will fill my entire hatch, having the shivas directed towards my rear window. anything you can suggest? i want to attempt to build this box myself.

The Shiva's were actually released as a home audio sub, so they use dual 8 ohm coils.  You can parallel the voice coils together to get a 4 ohm load.  As for power, I recomend maybe 300 watts a piece at the most if you are going ported.  They are very efficient drivers, and don't need a lot of power to get loud.

get those subs, and look for a amp that says it puts out 600 watts rms at 2 ohm. JBL makes a nice amp for a very impressive price.

I would reccomend having a professional design and make your box if your going to go ported, it takes some skill to get the tuneing right.

Altho if you went sealed,  the box will be easy to make within the subs reccomended air volume, and the sound will be much more precise.

No, he wants an amp that outputs 600 watts RMS at 4 ohms (probobly a 2 channel amp) because the Shivas are SVC 8 ohm subs.

Alpine guys correct.  The Shiva's use dual 8 ohm voice coils.  Having two with all voice coils paralleled would give you a 2 ohm load.

so, if i parallel i'll only need a 600 watt amp? so each sub gets 300 watts?

sounds good, but i want to push them at 375watts each
could anyone advice me on an amp that can do this?

if i got a MTX 6500D could anyone explain how i would achieve wiring these two subs to a monoblock....
