Got a brand new battery so i wouldn't have any problems when i install my system. Battery cost me little under 100 dollars so its not a cheap one. (forgot the specs) anyway I have to L7's powered by a 1200.1 amp now when i put the amp on 2-3 my battery is fine but once i put it on 5-6 its starts to go down and up and down. My alternator pushs out 90 volts. Now everytime i listen to it, my alternator would charge the battery right back up but now my battery doesn't charge back up anymore. I shut my stereo off and it doesnt go higher or lower it just stays there.Now my true question is how do i totally shut my amp off so my battery can recharge itself. Even when i put the amp volume control on 0 i still hear the humming/buzzing sound of the amp. How do i completely turn the amp of and let my alternetor recharge my battery? am i doing something wrong?

A JBL BP1200.1 amp does not have a volume control. What are you adjusting?
If you have the remote on wire conencted to your head unit properly, then if the head is off the amp is off.
If your alternator only puts out 90 AMPS (not volts) then you need a high-output alternator as that amp can draw 120 amps or so on its own. A battery will not help you if your alternator can't keep up with the demand.

its a kicker 1200.1 and im adjusting the the volume control on the amp from 0-10 it goes. and when my head unit is off i still hear humming from my amp.

Same answer. There is no volume control, on that amp. There is an input sensitivity and a bass boost, neither of which should be used as a volume control. And this amp will also easily overload your alternator, so you need a larger one. Bottom line.

You know where i can get a cheap amp with a sh*tload of volts? Its a pain in the ass to change an alternator in a 1992 jeep cherokee so i was avoiding it but I guess i have to. But why isn't my alternator charging my battery? when everything is off?

You already have a decent amp. You just don't have enough electrical power for it. If your car is no longer charging your battery then you have probably either fried the voltage regulator or the alternator from excessive current draw, or you have shorted a cell in the battery from excessive discharging. I suggest you take it in to a good alternator shop and have it checked out. Also if it's too much a pain to change your alternator yourself, get a shop to do it. You'll need a 200 amp alternator. Or a smaller amplifier. Caps, by the way, will make your situation worse, not better.
OH, and back to my original question. What are you calling a "volume control"?

you can just install a swich on the amp remote wire.. so you can flick it on/off...

is there a crossover or an eQ hooked to this as well? because if you have the remote wired from the eq, or crossover with a 12vlt jumper it will cause feedback even when your head unit is off it will create an "on all the time" situation. that will kill the battery.
