how can you tell if a speaker is blown i have a rockford fosgate punch z 10" 400w

Can you move the cone with your hand? Is everything connected right? Are the tinsel leads (the little wire that go from the voice coil to the terminals of the sub) touching?

graba meter and meter the speaker...it will certainly tell you in about 10 seconds whether the voice coil is open or not.....

In case you don't have a meter, you can just take a 1.5 volt battery and touch the leads of the speaker to the battery and hear some "scratching" sound. I used to do this when I was a kid and had no money to buy a meter.. it worked well though. This only tells you that your coils and wires are not cut out. Not a very good test by any means.
