When doing a major sound system with multiple amps and accesories is it wise to have the head unit powered off the factory wiring or should I go to the collumn for power.....The radio only draws 7-10 amps so It should be ok right?

It's perfectly fine to use OEM harness power and ACC.  I suggest running a new ground directly to the chassis and not using the OEM ground.  You may also get fine results using the factory speaker wiring depending on the car and the system.  And, of course, use a wiring harness adapter.

Its perfectly fine to run the head unit off of the factory wiring.  You may just want to buy a head unit that has 3 sets of pre amps with high voltage...around 5 volts.
