ok im about to go on vacation and were driving my tahoe to the airport cuz it has the most room. in order to fit all our suitcases i have to take out my sub box. i want to still be able to listen to music(just through my components running on a seperate amp). can i just unhook the power wire that runs to my sub amp from the distribution block? or would that be dangerous just having that port open

You can just disconnect the subs, not the amp. It's ok for the amp to run without anything connected to it. If you don't want it on at al though you can just disconnect the remote turn on lead from the sub amp, and it wouldn't power up.

Pull the fuse for the amp at the power wire, if seperate from second amp, or at the amp itself.

yes you can. just put a little bit of black tape on each wire end so they don't touch a ground or each other.
