I recently installed a sony reciever into my wife's 2000 Expediton and was wondering what to connect the auto dimmer wire to so that it would dim the face of the unit when the headlights are turned on. I also installed a hard wired hands-free cell phone kit into this vehicle and was wondering what to connect the auto mute wire of the radio to. Thanks

we dont hook dimmer switches up at work...when i asked why it was told to me that some could have a pos. or neg. polarity and the deck could have the opposite...resulting in something fugged up lol anyone else?

The harness that came with the reciever (if it was like mine) had a wire flagged illumination I believe. I hooked this wire up to the cooresponding wire on the new harness. The illumination wire on your sony harness should be orange, but the one in the dash for your car is blue/black I believe. Connecting those should work, but no promises. On my 1995 explorer I hooked the two illumination wires together and it works great. Good luck.
