What's your opinion on Profile Amps?

I just got my Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1 in the mail and i don't think my RF 360.2 will hit hard enough for me (considering that it's not producing more than 200 watts for some reason). I'm loking for an amp that will hit around 350watts when supplied with ~13V - 13.6V.

I've found some profile amps that say they will push 480watts at 4ohms for a real good price ($100-$120). Should i get this or spend the extra cash on something better.

If you think i should get something else ... i'm not looking to spend more than $200 shipped for 350-450 RMS @ 4ohm ... any sugestions?

There is a link to an amp that will definately do you better than the profile, it's a Monitor amp and it is of excellent build quality. I believe it's extremely underrated also, I have one in my wife's car pushing a perfect and it absolutely pounds. Be sure to have an external crossover though as this amp is just raw power and does not have any built in. I just used my wife's deck (Alpine CDA-9813) to crossover her's.

I would spend $20 more than your $200 (plus shipping maybe) and buy this amp instead:

From all I have heard and read about these JBL amps, I would definitely choose it over a Profile. If I'm not mistaken this amp has been recommended for this sub on this forum before.

Also, notice most of the knowledgeable people on here rarely reply to questions about amps that are real cheap and claim a lot of watts. If it's not worth their time to reply, it's probably not worth your time to buy the amp in question.

Profile amps are made from tin cans. Go with the above statement and use a JBL BP-600.1. It would output 300 watts continuous at 4 ohms and would output 600 watts continuous at 2 ohms if you ever wanted to add a second sub. Also, how do you know that your Rockford Fosgate amp is not outputing over 200 watts cointinuous?

seeing that the JBL BP-600.1 was disconnected i think i am going to go with the JBL GTO-601.1 ... a little more power then the JBL BP-600.1 and the GTO serries is supposted to be very high in SQ. I think it would be better to shell out the extra $$ for this amp.

Well yeah, for $350 you can step up to the GTO - or a lot of other amps for that matter. But it doesn't really fit with his "$200 shipped" requirements.

And though the amp is discontinued, (I'm assuming this is what you meant by "disconnected") it still caries a 1-year warranty from Sounddomain.com.

And if it looks "old", i.e. last year's model... It still looks a hell of a lot better than the Profile. Not to mention the sound.

thats a good choice. profile amps are not the best amp out, but it's not the worst amp out. they  do o.k.  the gto601.1 is a good amp you will like it.
