i have 1 kicker cvr speaker dvc each vc is 4 ohm. i can get a 2 ohm load on it or an 8 ohm load.

im trying to connect it to a RF500a2 amp. mono 4ohm min. in stereo its 4 or 2ohm stable. Am i better off

connecting it 2 ohm to just 1 channel or running it bridged 8 ohm. this amp at 2 ohm stereo lets out

250x2 RMS as per the specs.  At 8 ohms bridged it didnt say...

which would be  better 1 channel at 2 ohms or bridged at 8 ohms? thanks for your help.

I *think* what you meant to say is that the amp is stable down to 4ohm mono, 2ohm stereo. That is typically the rating. What this is saying (to my knowledge) is that 2ohm stereo is equivalent in power output as a 4ohm mono load.

Now in your case, here is what I would do: (I must first say that I can not be held responsible for your speaker or amp if anything happens. What I am sharing is my own experience) I would wire the sub to a 2ohm load and let it play. One of my experiences with Rockford amps has been that contrary to what the label may say, they can and will play at a 2ohm load. I personally would not have a problem with you doing that. It should play fine and loud. At extreme volumes, you may have the amp clip and go into protection. if that happens, do the common sense thing--turn the volume down or the gain down.

Good Luck!

It should with no problem. I used to run the Punch 40DSM (first of the oval shaped amps) for some time on 2 8inch Kickers... at 2ohms! it slammed and never overheated or clipped. I think it will be just fine for you. If you did the other way (running at 8ohms) you'd be really disappointed.

In this case, since you already have the amp and are not looking for what amp to buy, you might want to read this thread for an alternative way to run that DVC sub.  Your amp has served you for four years without being pushed past its limits...why push it now?
