sup everyone can someone help me i have a buddy that has a 99 jetta and wants to put an in line convertor in can someone tell me where i can run the power wire and where the remote power will come from thanks sorry im kinda new and trying to learn as i go thanks everyone...

AS A RULE CONVERTERS ARE PASSIVE DEVICES AND DO NOT REQUIRE POWER CONNECTIONS.....

well a hi low output that is prolly what i need or mean... to an amp for power remote cuase he wants to keep his factory head unit...i can just use the rear deck for the source for the speakers thanks so much for everyones help

Rear speakers for the leads. Then find a 12 volt positive switched wire and tap into it and run that to the amp.

Power wire for the amp goes directly to the battery.  Get a amp install kit for everything you need.

Do you lose much sound quality by using one of these converters?

No, you don't.  You can't lose what you never had.  You can only compare to what was there before, and in the case of LOC's, you are comparing to the OEM system.  So it is always a gain and never a loss.

I meant to ask if there is a sound quality difference between using the converters and using the rca outputs on the back of the deck whether they are sub outputs or rear outputs.

No not really. You might even lose some sound quality if you bought a low end deck that didn't have very high voltage preamp outputs (your high to low level convertor should put out some where around 2.7 to 3 volts i think, some have a gain control also).
