I have a 98 Ford Windstar with premium sound. Does anyone know where the Premium sound amp is located? If I change out the factory radio (it doesn't even have a clock, doesn't sound premium to me) is there an adapter that will allow me to keep the remote radio control that sit in the overhead console?

You could try autosoundgear.com.
When your there look for the contact us or contact tech support or whatever it is and ask them about the adapter. They helped me on my Chevy truck
Harvey,
I have the same Windstar and I think there is no amp in there. I think it is the radio and the speakers that are uprgraded along with the rear seat controls that make it "Premium".
Well I am now in the same boat. I am adding a Kenwood receiver to my Windstar and I found out there is an amp in there. The guys at Crutchfield recommend using an amp bypass kit. This kit requires you to run wires to the rear of the van to the factory location and hook into the speakers there!
LqDFx, It looks like we'll lose the radio controls at the console. Taking the side panels apart to run speaker wire is a pain. Also removing the seats to gain access. They're pretty heavy. It was time consuming enough to add a 6 disc cd changer to the factory system because it doesn't fit in the center console. i had to put mine under the passenger front seat.. Good luck with your Kenwood.
