Hey All, Newb to the board. My friend just got a 04 Lincoln Navigator and has the Eclipse avn2454 navigation system. My question is can anyone give me some hints on pulling the dash apart before I tear into it. Also will a double din radio fit without a kit? Keep in mind I haven't seen the vehicle yet so I'm going on what my buddy had told me. Thanks in advance for the help everyone. Jay

Taking them apart to pull the radio takes some time. Start off by opening up the center console and taking the push tab out. (push the center in, pull the whole thing out) After that's out you can pull the window switch panel straight up. That should reveal some screws then start on the next panel until you get to the radio. I would recommend removing the panel around the shifter as well just to get it out of the way. I don't have the step by step but once you start it's pretty obvious. Also watch the door that covers the radio when pulling that panel off you may have to have the door closed. Just be careful as there is a lot to move around, and it's easy to scratch those pieces! Also watch out because when you put the car in gear the ebrake automatically comes off. It's easy for those things to roll a few feet before you even realize it. Never swapped a radio on one not sure what your options are. Good luck,
Mike

Thanks Mike. My buddy didn't get any of the options because he knew he was going aftermarket. So no Jbl system or navigation. I've heard those pieces are easy to scratch so I will have to extra careful because my friend is super anal about his car. Thanks again.

As for a double din deck fitting without a kit, it will not. You will have a gap all around the radio. I've installed a few slide out monitors with navigation in them (2 din units) and they were a pain in the a**. Scosche has a double din kit for them, but it's still not very easy to use.

Got it all done. I used the existing factory brackets to mount the DD unit and then I made a trim ring out of ABS to fill the gap in. Had to make a trim ring because the Eclipse unit doesn't come with one and I imagine if it did it would fit right anyway. All in all it turned out really good. It just took some time and good measuring to get the radio in the right spot so it wasn't stick in or out too far. I'll have to post some pics of it.
