I have a friend that is looking to buy a system in the range of about $250-300, He is looking for 2 12's preferable but he said 1 would be fine, an amp, and a box(said preferable bandpass) Im wondering what everyones opinion would be. Hes looking for something decent its going in a 01 ford crown vic i beleive its an 01 not sure tho.

that's a tight budget for good stuff, most amps will run that much (at least ones that would push 2 12's and live) I'm assuming he has a head unit, it might be worth hitting up the used stuff
I personally hate the sound of most bandpass boxes and have never heard a bandpass in that price range associated with "decent sound." In that range they are generally overly boomy one note wonders. If your friend cares about sound quality at all, I think he'd be MUCH better off buying a single 10 or 12" woofer in a ported box and a small amp.
Here's what a really quick browse came up with:
https://www.cardomain.com/item/XTAZ104 - insane price on a decent sub
https://www.cardomain.com/item/OBCSS10166 - one example of a sealed box .. or build your own for WAY less.
https://www.cardomain.com/item/USAUSB600D - amp.. many in this price range.
Stuff the box a little and you'd have decent quality bass for around $300.

Yeah dude, always better off buying 1 really good speaker than 2 cheapos, and that Xtant above is really good for the price. Pick it up and use the rest to pick up a decent amp (an xtant amp would even sweeten it up a bit, eh?) And make your own box for like 25 bucks or so.

You'd better get me out of this lord... or else you'll have me to deal with. -- Hunter S. Thompson "F.A.L.I.L.V."
Yes he has a pioneer 8600MP head unit so hes just looking for the sub(s) amp and box of which i will probably build for him. He wants bandpass but if i can sway him to ported or sealed ill build it for him. So keep the suggestions comeing and ill check out the used gear boards
Seriously, a cheap off the shelf bandpass box generally sounds like ass imo. Push hard for the ported or sealed.
