Wanting some outside opionins on the best component setup.  I have been running PR (base level) Memphis with a Memphis 4 channel amp for the past couple of years.  I want to go to a good component set, but don't know which set to get (Focal, MB Quart, even Memphis).  I don't really wan't to put them in the kick, I would like to keep them in the factory location.  A good crisp sound with good mid bass.  They will be wired at 75 watts @4ohms.

Thanks

You're looking at good quality brands.  The sound is going to be so comparable that you'll have to take a listen yourself to see what sounds better to your ear.  I know this isn't the answer you want to hear, but really .. you need to hear them for yourself.  Hey, I love going to stereo stores and demoing different items.  Just remember to take your own cd.

Having said all that, if you're REALLY wanting someone to give an opinion I'll say first that I've never heard Focal, no dealers near me.  The top line Memphis component (forget what the line is called) and the Quart Premium speakers are in the same price class.  I was debating between the Memphis and the Quart and picked the Quart because I thought the vocals were slightly smoother and the highs more crisp.  It was a close call and I think the Memphis had slightly better midbass but more relaxed mids and highs.  The vocals tip the scales for me as I'm a big vocal jazz / classical fan.

MB Quart posted_image. Actually kfr01 is right, good sound is up to you to decide. Take your favorite cd and head out and listen to different speakers, buy the ones that you like the sound of. Personally I use MB Quart as well and have for almost 15 years.

I haven't heard a huge variety of brands but how good a speaker is can be judged by quality and personal preference. Certain brands and models will will offer a certain level of quality where "most" people will agree on what's good and what's bad. Most people find Sony to be crap for car audio.

Most people will say MB Quarts, Focal, and Memphis make some of the best speakers but it still comes down to personal preference to even those that say they are good. Some people say MB Quarts have harsh highs but others love them. A lot depends on your ears and while when you buy a good speaker you usually can't go wrong, the sound may not suit you as well as something from another brand.

I took a chance and bought some Polk Audio Momo MM6's online which should be arriving tommorow. I partly bought them because the price was really good but also because many reviews said the Infinity Kappa's (my original choice) were tiring to listen to after a while and the MM6's were much smoother. Normally I like to test speakers out but there are no Polk Audio Car dealers anywhere near me and they're going to be much better than my stock components and better than the Infiniti 3way 6x9"s I had in my old car (Now I know why 6x9"s are shunned but they put out a lot of bass).
