Is it ok to use the remote turn on wire for both my power antenna and also for the amp, so that they both come on when the radio is powerd up?

On most of the decks ive seen the manual says that your supposed to use the remote turn on for the power antenna as well as the amp.  I have it done on my car and havent had any problems yet, I would say go for it.

The problem with using the power antenna output as a remote turn-on is on most head units the power antenna wire is only "on" when playing the radio, and not when playing CD (or cassette.)  If the head unit has both outputs, use the antenna wire for the antenna and the remote on wire for remote on.

I think DYohn misread the question,

It is possible to use the remote from the head unit to power your amps and power antenna, though I would recommend using a relay to ensure the safety of the head unit, as the same concept of running two or more amps from the same head unit.

But referring to what DYohn has stated, you wouldn't want to use the power antenna wire from the head unit harness, for the reasons he has stated.

BTW, if you do use the remote turn on for the antenna, then the antenna will be up the whole time your head unit is turned on whether you have the radio on or not.
