Amp install Kit, ground wire?

Do I neet to run a ground wire off the head unit back to the amp ground in the trunk? The amp install kit is telling me to do so...

no you dont, as long as the HU is grounded to the chassis up front. Make a separate chassis ground in the trunk for the amp. just make sure your hitting the chassis and not a support bracket in the dash when fidning the ground.

Try to make the ground 6" or shorter if possible, and to the chassis, as this will help prevent the possibility of engine noise. Also clean the surface of your grounding point of paint, you want to ground to bare metal.

Generall your ground can be 3 feet or less without any ill effects. The ground that you run from the front is sometimes refered to as a safty ground and is just used when you are having problems with engine noises and those sorts of things.

I wouldn't run a ground that long, keep it as short as possible... like ravendarat said 3ft or shorter, I like to keep my grounds under 2 ft...the longer the ground the more resistance,
