The Car 1990 300zx 2+2 Na 5spd

The project. Taking out the back seats and making a custom box with amp rack.

Just wanted some takes on this. I was thinking about making 2 seperat boxes with the amp rack between them and having the subs face the rear. Someone said i should point them down in a custom box and a port hole. Another had said point them to the front and last said bandpass.

They are 2 Alpine type R's DVC's. They are in a bandpass now but i feel they can provide so much more power. The amp is a JBL 300.1BP Mono amp pushing 300watts RMS.

Any Idea's or thoughts??

I would suggest taking the subs out of the bandpass box and building a custom box for them. Upgrade the amp, those subs can handle much more power then they are getting. As for how you should position the subs, I would suggest to make them firing forward, they should be plenty loud. If they were in the trunk, then face them backwards so the soundwaves have something to bounce off of, but if they will be in teh backseat your going to get the best results having them fire forward.

is that not loud enough for you?   are you aware those subs were built more around SQ and not really meant to be loud.  I just thought i'd be a dick and give you my two cents.         SEALED,     it's a damn Z for god sakes. Have some respect for the legacy and stop shakin the living sh*t out of a legendary vehicle.

you'll get the hatchback effect if you face the subs to the glass..be way better in sound.

Don't think you'll need a bigger amp if you have a good enclosure made.  If the box is ported and big..you dont need as much power as one in a small box to get full xmax.

Id go with a well made ported box.
