I'm kinda new to the whole car audio thing, doing it myself anyway. I was wondering if the Phoenix Gold Octane-R 12D ( https://www.cardomain.com/item/PHOR12D ) would work ok with the Kenwood KAC-X521 amp ( https://www.crutchfield.com/S-9FCfVtr7M42/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=113KACX521&search=KAC%2DX521 ) and if they are fine what would be the best way to wire them up? also if anyway has the Octane-R 12D please let me know if you are satisfied with them.

Thanks

Or do you guys think the Kenwood KFC W3009  would be a better choice?

If you are planning on using two subs, you can use the type of amp you referred to.  When the sub is a 4 ohm DVC, it will be either a 2 ohm or a 8 ohm sub when the coils are wired.  Two combined would give the amp a 4 ohm load.  If the plans are to use one sub, look at class D mono amps to power it, because they (check the model) can handle the 2 ohm load.  Here is a wiring wizard.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
