Are kick pods that much better than door locations? I have the tweets to my components2-3" above the stock door locations right now with the woofers in the stock spot. I was contemplating making some but only if they are going to make a big difference. I've never had any so I have no clue. I do like when the speakers are facing me. I was also thinking about making a custom spot in the door, with the speaker facing up at an angle more. What are your opinions.

You're going to hate this answer, but all I can say is "it depends." Every car is different, every person hears differently and has different expectations, and every installer has his or her favorite tricks and tips. I say if you have the resources to experiment, why not give it a try? The worst that can happen is you like what you have now better than the change and you go back.. ------------- Support the12volt.com

I say the definately have the potential to sound better. But this will take time and experimenting.

Why don't you just turn down your bass, position your speakers where you would build your kickpanels, and see if they sound alright before you start building anything? That's what I did before I built my kickpanels to make sure the imaging was okay. With mine, I noticed more depth in my music, and imaging improved.

aggie altima this has nothing to do with this post, but I checked out your car. Nice install, but what I loved was the picture you took of the outkast video. That part of the video is MY FAVORITE! Thanks for the help guys, I guess I'll try something and check it out. I was just skeptical because of the dash and my legs being in the way. I'm sure the speakers would sound better in front and facing me.

I was just saying to try the speakers in the locations where you would want your kickpods so that you can form your own opinion of whether it would be worth it to build kickpanels. As DYohn said, every car is different, and placing the speakers in the kickpanels location while still connected to the radio will allow you to experience for yourself what potential kickpanels have. If you don't think there's a dramatic difference, then you saved yourself the trouble of building kickpanels.
And about my car, thanks for the compliment. Some people didn't know it was an Outkast video and thought I was watching porn. Oh well.
