I'm lookign for a multimedia HU that does not have a built in amp. Do any exist?

It seems wierd to me, as anyone who would want multimedia in their car would most likely also want to use good amps (better than the weak 18watts that the HU's have) in their system. So why would the major players (alpine, eclipse, clarion, etc..) not offer a HU without amps?

Because even though we true diehards will use an amp, the vast majority of purchasers will not, all they want is a screen that goes in the factory slot and that's it. It is all about the needs of the many outweighing the needs of the few.
