this is my first visit here so please excuse me if this is in the wrong place. anyways, i'm putting in my 2 12" infinity's into my new car. in my old one i needed a capacitor but never broke down and bought one because i didn't drive it that much. should i get one for my new car? i'm also thinking about getting new speakers. do i need to amp them? if i end up amping them then i would need a distribution block right? if i were to get a capacitor could i get one that was really big for both amps or would i need two? if anyone can help i would appreciate it.
What amp are you powering them off of model and brand?
If you were to run 2 amps yes you would need a distroblock along with a 4 gauge kit.
A cap is not needed. but it is always good to have one. unless your alt is bad. But with a single cap should do the job.
Is the new speakers you plan getting for the interrior?
What kind of car do you have?
Leave the cap alone, you do not know if you need it yet and if it will be beneficial or detrimental to the system. With 2 12" subs hammering away, it is a good idea to amplify the other speakers, 50 watts of real power should be adequate for most instances. A 50w x 4 amp is readily available form any number of companies.
Yes a distribution block is quite handy. If you plan on adding a cap, make sure that the distribution block can handle multiple large guage power inputs, not just one the one 4 gauge in - 4 8 gauge out. i'm lookin at gettin infinity or alpine type-s speakers for the interior. i'm running an old bazooka amp for the subz and it seems to work just fine. i have a 97 accord coupe and just looked seriously at it to see where i would run the wires and am lost as to where to find a whole running through the firewall. i really don't want to drill one. any help????
