It's about time for me to get a new battery and I wanted to get a Yellow Top.  But a local shop told me that I will need a Red Top instead since it will be my main starting battery.  They said Yellow Tops are only for multiple battery set-ups.  However, the Optima site says Yellow is for starting applications in cars with lot's of accesories.  I have a system that is pushing about 800 watts RMS and I push it hard a lot.  Would you guys consider my car a high accessory car?  The Optima site also states that Red Top batteries used in car audio applications are not covered under warrantee.  Should I get Yellow or Red?

Here is my current set up:  https://www.sounddomain.com/memberpage/486709/5

I have upgraded to Optimas and I went with the Yellow top for under the hood and for my 2nd battery. I am pretty good friends with the guy at the battery store and he knew exactly which one I needed when I came to see him. Don't listen to them and go with the Yellow!

I'll vouch for the yellow tops too - though I've never had a red top to compare with, the yellow tops have always done a marvellous job, and they're not that much more expensive.

800 watts isn't that much in my book, but there is no such thing as too much supply power!

I just put a yellow top in my trunk for the main and only battery. Work fine with my system (~600watts)

The yellow is for high current drawing vehicles...the red is more set for off-road vehicles. You make your own choice. But yellow is the best to go with in car audio.

The red top will start the car better, but the yellow will power your accessories with the deep cycle power, which is what is made for. The yellowtop if the best choice.
