I am trying to decide on which subs i should get.  I want alot of clean bass and am going to be putting them into 2 sepereate sub boxes.  The ones that i am looking at are the 2 Ohm DVC 12" Alpine Type-R's and the 2 Ohm DVC Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2's.  I will be powering them with an Alpine MRD-M500 (500 watt RMS Class D).

Go for the Alpine's as the RMS for them is lower than the Rockford's. Not only that but the MRD does not like anything lower than a 2 ohm load so you will have to wire the subs in series to maintain a 2 ohm load. I believe the Rockford's HX2 require about 500 watts RMS each ! For sound quality reasons go for the lower RMS subwoofer and it will sound much better.

*** Just to add....... digital amplifiers do not give you better SQ. Look at the % THD of these amps and you will see that they run at about 1 % !! Not good if you want SQ ***

Im more then positive, go with the Type R's.  They are alot better then and Rockford Fosgate.  And the amp you got will handle them fine, that amp is made for Type R's
