Hi, I have a  pioneer DEQ-9200 connected to a pioneer avh-p6500dvd. I have infinity component system in the front 5.25 , and 6.5 3 way in the back, and 2 12" in a ported box, The subs are powered by a Memphis amp, and the mids and highs to a soundstream amplifier. Im having troubles using the eq, with the freq.

The Eq have these options

Low= 40hz - 160Hz  ( right now its in 80hz)

Mid 1= 40hz - 160hz (right now is in 100 Hz)

Mid2= 2.5 khz-10khz ( I have it at 10khz)

High = 2.5 khz -10Khz (its in 8 khz)

And what i also dont get it us the slope.

Low= 12-18-24

Mid1= 0-6-12-18

mid2 0-6-12-18

high -6-12-18

thats is one part of the setting, the other on is the 3 band parametric eq that goes

band1  20hz- 3.1 khz  (i have it at 80hz)

band  2  80hz - 8 khz ( i have it at 600 hz

band 3   200hz - 20 khz ( i have it at 8 khz)

thats the eq.  and the radio is different

Low= 40  -  80 - 100  - 160  HZ  I have it at 80hz

Mid 200-500-1k-2k hz ( i have it at 1k)

High ( 3.15k  8k 10k 12.5k hz ( i have it at 8k)

and the Q factor

2w-1w-1n-2n

..

I was wondering if anyone could help me telling is I have it right, or what should i change....

thanks

No one can tell you what to set your EQ at without seeing a RTA readout.

The grouping of numbers you listed looks like a crossover section.  How do you have the RCA's run to the EQ?

Basically on a crossover you'll want to each set to play a different range of frequencies with no overlap or holes.

You won't need the 'mid2' or 'high' setting unless you're bi-amping your components.

I have mine head unit set at

sub low pass 80 .. 18db slope
mid high pass 80 .. 18db slope

Which just means that the sub takes everything below 80 and the mids take everything above 80.  18 is a fairly steep slope, but gave me what I felt was the right sound.

I would leave all EQing alone until you get a access to a RTA.  (I'm EQing right now with the help of a RTA and it is hard enough!)

Actually EQing isnt hard if you arent setting up for competion. all you do is mess with numbers until you get to the the point that it sounds good to you. It doesnt matter how it sounds to the RTA meter if you arent gonna compete. And even if you are, alot of competions I have seen judge sq by using pairs of judges, not by checking for flat response on a rta meter.

The only advice I can give based on what you've posted is to set your "Mid2" below your "High."  I'd put it at about 3K.  Set all your "slope" to 12.  Then set everything to flat or zero and then adjust slowly by ear as suggested above.

How do you have the RCA's run to the EQ?

the rca goes, fron the head unit the subwoofer output goes to the eq, and from the eq, one goes for the front, rear, subwoofer...

and about the hu and the eq, i have to set both at the same freq.?

I have the same EQ but instead of setting it to pro mode I left it in standard.  It allows you to control the front, rear and sub output instead of the low, mid1, mid2 and highs.  I set my head unit flat so that it wouldn't interfere with my eq settings.  I switch the curve with every music type.

Do you only have a subwoofer output?  It doesn't have a LPF right.

I'm getting alot of static noise with my system dow.  Does yours sound clear at low volumes?  If the eq isn't causing the noise could it be the unshieded RCA's I have.

I dont like the way it sound is std mode, In std mode you hear all 4 speakers, on Pro, the you feel it more mid and bass in the rear speakers and in the fron you hear the highs so it makes the sound cleaner, also  you can adjust the distance from your seat to the speakers , which  allows to delay the signals of the closer speaker units to the listener in order to align the timing of sound arrivals, which make a lot of different, i have tryed both mode but i like the Pro, ( it says if you have an amp for the subs and another amp for mids and highs you should use in pro, You can use it any mode, it just that what it says. )

In Pro mode, i do get a little of noise, but is std mode i dont get it at all, ( try lowering the volume on the eq, you will see it goes away ,) These eq are know for beingnoisy

Do you have an extension cord on your EQ face going to the control module.  I was wondering if that was why I was getting alot of static.  I like standard because of the effects it has.  You can listend to a game on the road with the statium effect and you feel like you're there live. It's just personal preferences.  How much did you buy yours for?
