Keeping wires connected

I cant seem to keep the speaker wire inside teh box connected to my subs. I have butt connecters, but they keep falling off the subs, I even tried wrapping the speakerwire around the terminals on the subs, but they still fall off. Im getting a little tired of taking my subs in and out of the box becasue a wire has come loose. My question is...what can I do to keep the wires on the terminals?? It doesnt have to look pretty, it just needs to do the job.

I have also been having problems keeping wires in my amp. The power wire and ground wire are big and dont fit in the terminals very well. The power wire is old school and has only 15 or 20 big wires rather then a ton of small wires. The ground wire is just plain to big and they both come out quite frequently.

Im sorry if these questions seem stupid, but this is my first install and im sort of at a loss here, so any help would be great! Thanks!

Butt connector on a sub? You could try soldering the wire directly to the terminal for a more permanent type connection, just be careful not to unsolder the tinsel lead.

How do you have the wires connected to the amp now, direct wire to screw or with spade/fork type connector?

bro, bro, bro. crimp your female quick disconnect connectors to make them a tighter fit. put them on. make sure they're real tight going on. then tie wrap the wire to somewhere on the sub. this will help prevent the wire from coming off from a variety of issues. if u do this they wont come off. thats what i do for everything and never had them come off.
as for your power wire. are you using too big of gauge wire for your amps. are you using spade connectors or just putting the wire in the terminals? try using spade connectors.

Thanks dudek, ill try that, if it doesnt work ill give the soldering a try. As for the amp, I just have the bare wire to the terminals, I didnt get any sort of connectors w/ the amp install kit. Im going to the store I bought the subs from for some new speakers soon, so Ill get some then. The wires are a little big for the amp, 8 Ga for the ground, not sure on the power, plus the screws are really stripped on the amp...I bought it used. I plan on getting a new amp soon though.

you said the 8g. ground wire was way too big?.... what kind of amp are you running.... where i'm from 8g. is tiny....

i had that problem in the past, i just wrapped electrical tape around it after i put it on, thats pretty easy and does a good job.

Electrical tape isn't meant for car installations. You should use some quick disconnect connectors on the terminal on your box and on your sub (unless you have push down connectors). Then, if your quick disconnect connectors are loose crimp them down like dudek38 said. This is what I did for my sub and they have never came loose yet.

Its a orion sub and the terminals are tiny, the connectors would not stay on no matter what i did. So I ended up soldering them, those wires arent goin anywhere now. My amp is a power acoustik 525W. Its a older amp, I bought it used.
