I just bought a set of kenwood 6x9s for really cheap and was wondering if I could mount them in the front of my car. The main reason I want to do this because all I have for front speakers is 3 1/2"s in the dash. I was thinking of putting them either under the dash in the corners, or in the space between where my HU, climate controls, etc are and the front of the car. My friend is pretty sure he could build a box for either place. I could also put them on the doors, but im not sure there is enough space. The car is a 91 cavalier.

I also I got a memphis m-class 250Wx2 amp for cheap, would this work good on these speakers, they are 140W max, not sure on the RMS.

EN OH!

leave the 6x9's out of the equation, it would be more trouble than they are worth to get them to operate properly and mount safely. If you are going to try this, then I would try them in the doors if they can be made to fit. If they can be made to fit, then sure, use the amp on them.

Ok, I might just end up putting them in the back if they won't easily fit. Ill upgade my 3 1/2s first and see how that sounds. Right now my bass is overpowering the mids and highs, so im looking to get as much sound up front as possible.

Have you looked at installing some components in the kick panels?

Where exactly are the kick panels?? I know that may sound stupid, but im not exactly sure. And as far as componets go, from what ive seen they are a little to expensive for me at this point.

The kick panels are the panels to the right/left of your feet when your sitting in the car.   So for the passenger side the kick panel is located bottom right side, right in front of the door panel.

Ya, 6X9's up front is not a good idea, esspecially in a cavy. I would save a little money and buy a set of 6 1/2 components and then get a pro to build some kickpods for them. You can get  a decent set of componets off the net for 100-150 bucks and then as far as getting pods built, my shop charges about 150 for a set, I dunno what the boys south of my border charge.
