I have kicker solo baric S15 L5 powered by JBL 600.1 ....when I go with the volume more than a half amp is switching to the protection mode what kind of problem might be????

I only think may be power wire is not enough cause I'm not for sure I think it is 8ga and has fuse only 20A

Upgrade to *At Least* 4g power and ground wire and put a 60 amp fuse inline.

A bigger ground wire should solve your problem. Most times the protection light comes on its becasue of a bad ground.

I Have read that JBL amps are power hungry. Are you running * guage from the battery to the amp? If so, try using 4 guage. I am not saying that this will completley fix your problem but, it is a start.

The amp gain is set wrong.  When you turn the head unit up, the amp is going into clipping.  Reset the amplifier gain to match the head unit at the highest level that the head can go cleanly.  You're not blowing a 20 amp fuse in the power wire, so evidently the amp is not pulling too many amps.  And, by the way, what is the fuse rating of that JBL?  And why wouldn't you have at least that same fuse rating in the power wire that feeds it?  An 8 ga. wire can be fused to up to 60 amps.  And let us know what you did as far as making certain the amp ground is good.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Your amp requires no less than a 60 amp fuse, the reason it is shutting down is because it is running out of power when you crank it.  In addition you will want to reset your gains after you upgrade your fuse.    The fuse is not blowing because the amps shuts down before the fuse blows due to a lack of power.

This amp actually draws 57 amp when fully utilized.  And depending on the distance or your amp from your battery and other variables in your car you may look into upgrading your wire to 4 gauge.  This amp is very power hungry but reliable.  I installed one in a civic and with the car running it drops the voltage down to 10 volts with the car running on heavy bass notes.
