designing first ABC box

I'd assume the volume of teh two chambers need to be 1:2 after all the driver, ports, bracing, etc are considered.

Also, you need to tune the box to the specs of the driver, not just the physical attributes of some other box you saw.

I've been doing research on ABC/DCR boxes recently also.  Almost every piece of information I found said to split the total volume 1:2.  So, a 5 ft^3 total volume after bracing, ports, etc would mean you'd want the larger chamber at 3.33 ft^3 (after all bracing, ports and the driver) and the smaller chamber at 1.67 ft^3 (after bracing and ports).

You might want to do some more research before you start cutting.

Double that and I get 5cf. Then he says that the enclosure should have a 2:1 ratio with the loaded chamber twice that of the empty. So idealy I should have two internal volumes of 3.33cf and 1.66 cf. Sorry, I don't think that guy knows what he is talking about.  I have never seen anything saying to double the volume.  Every piece of information I found says to design a regular ported box for teh sub, just like if you were going to leave it a regular ported box.  Solve for two ports instead of one.  Split the box 2:1 volume, mount driver in large volume with one port, the other port in teh small volume and add a 3rd identical port between teh two chambers.

I would NOT spend your time an money based on what you ask someone.  You shoul spend an hour doing research yourself so you know if someone is tell you a bunch of crap.  That guy has nothing to lose if you build the box wrong, but you do.

Then use Google and search on some other automotive forums.  Search for "ABC", "DRC", "dual chamber reflex", "dual chamber ported" for starters.  Good luck and post back when you find out more or build the box.  I'm wanting to build one also but haven't figured out exactly what volume I have to play with, etc.
