number of wires in a Wire?

ok how much of a differnce dose it make if i buy somthing that is 6 or 8 gadge and i have 10 wires in it instead of like 50?

this is to power my second amp that is 33 amperas

For power cable it should make no difference at all.  For signal cable, that is a different story.

Where it is important is simple. A wire needs to be able to flex easily, with a higher strand count it can bend much better and not retain any form. Some wire is also designed with a very high tolerance to heat, this is very important in your engine compartment. You do not want a high heat source melting off the insulation and shorting out the wire.

Some people will claim that the higher the strand count, the more surface area in the wire to carry current. Over the years I have played with many different types of wires, a good welding cable for power / ground worked awesome, as did car audio wire. But home ac wiring was definitely not the best to use (never used this personally) but have replaced lots of it. When you live on an isolated island (redneckville) they tend to use what they have.

The power wire in my car only has 20 or so large strands. It was already in the car from a previous owners, so i used it. It works great, but its a pain to hook up to the amp.

k thanks, this is not goen though my engion compartment im splitting a 4 gadge wire adn getten a pice that is for this amp, and yea its power.

so what dose lexing have to do with it ?
