Can I run a dual voice coil subwoofer on my Alpine MRV-F450? I've searched around but can't seem to come up with a good answer. The manual for the amp is useless too. I used to have an SVC Cerwin Vega, some how I blew that one up and now I need a new sub. I'm looking for a new sub, but if I'm going to spend the money again I want something good - need's to be an 8 inch though, Std. Cab S10. Here are the specs for it: - 50 watts RMS x 4 + 200 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms
- 60 watts RMS x 4 at 2 ohms + 200 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms
- 120 watts RMS x 2 + 200 watts RMS x 1 in bridged mode
- 2-, 3-, 4-, or 5-channel output
- Tri-Way capable
- Bass EngineŽ features:
- Front and rear channels have variable 50-200 Hz high-pass/low-pass crossovers, 12 dB/octave
- Sub channel has a 30-200 Hz low-pass crossover, 12 dB/octave
- Selectable (15 Hz or 30 Hz) subsonic filter on the sub channel
- Tuned Bass EQ (6 dB bass boost at 50 Hz with adjustable Q factor, while frequencies below 30 Hz are cut by 6 dB) on the sub channel
- MOSFET power supply
- STAR Topology (minimizes internal noise and prevents ground interference)
- Oversized power and ground connections
- Gold-plated screw terminals
- Top-mounted controls with cover
- Detachable front cover
- Blue power LED
- 16-9/16"W x 2-3/8"H x 11-13/16"D (depth is 10" with front cover removed)
Any help would really be appreciated, Ben

You can connect any speaker you like to that amp as long as the total impedence is not below the rated limit. So connect whatever sub you want to, but it cannot be less than 4 ohms if you connect it to two channels bridged, or less than 2-ohms per channel. ------------- Support the12volt.com

the sub channel is only safe down to 4 ohm, , if you go to 2 ohm the amp gets very hot. So you can get a single 4 ohm VC sub, , or a Dual 2ohm sub and series it to 4 ohm.

Thank you both for your replies. I really appreciate it. Any suggestions on an 8 inch sub that would sound good with this amp? I don't expect it to pound, but sound quality is more what I'm after. Thanks again, Ben
