Is it ok to power speakers with an amplifier for a period of about 2 weeks and then run them off the deck at a lesser power?  Amp will push them at their RMS and deck will push them at little over half their RMS. thank you.

Of course it's OK to do that.  You may use any amplifier on any speaker so long as you do not exceed the power handling capability of the speaker, and do not overload or overdrive the the amp and cause it to clip.  Changing the amp driving a speaker will not cause anything other than changes in sound due to (duh) using a different amplifier!

ok i just thought that they might get used to being powered by high wattages then they're all loose and suck when they are exposed to lower wattages.  And does clipping come from setting the gain to high?

Understood, and not a bad thought, but not a problem.  Yes, clipping comes from things like setting gain too high.
