I'm trying to modify my box for a new sub, the manufacturer reccomends one port 15" long, but I already have two ports cut from my old sub.  Should I plug one port, or can I split it into two 7.5" ports and get the same results?

No, ports don't work like that.  If you know the specs on your driver and your enclosure, you can use a calculator like THIS one and determine how to port it with two ports.
