I have a punch 120.2 pushing two pioneer 6x8 3wys, sounds good & clear down low, but distorts real bad loud.What are some clean loud speakers for my high end?___________________________________________________________ {DEH p3600 head unit,kenwood 6042a eq,crossfire bmf 600d on two 12" bmf subs, vented enclosure 149.7 spl, working to get top notch sq}

before you go out and buy new speakers i would suggest putting a high pass filter on the ones you already have. maybe block out everything below 100hz or so (check your speaker specs for a better idea about where to cut off the frequency). its been my experiance that the distortion will usually come from overwhelming bass on a small speaker.... for the price of a capacitor its worth trying before you dump a bunch of money on new speakers. ... this is assumeing you are using a seperate subwoofer for your lows. if your not then i just gave you some really bad advice  . ~Warren ------------- I had Cheetos and wine for dinenr.

Crossover. 80 or 100 with a 12db slope.

assuming you're running a 4 ohm load it would block everything up to about 4K...not what you are looking for... you want something in the range of 450-500 uf NP ------------- Kevin Gerry

It's not the speakers dude, it is the lack of a proper crossover frequency and you are probably clipping all over the map. Turn the gain down on the amp, turn on the hp crossover (if there is one). If there is not then you will need a couple of caps of the value that Kevin suggested. A speaker does not distort all on it's own, something causes it to, in this case the amp. If you do not like how the Pioneer's sound (I hate them) then head out and listen to other speakers and buy the ones that you like the sound of. This is no guarantee however that they will not distort as well. MB Quart / Focal / Eclipse / Macrom / Infinity are some of the speakers you should look at.

I dont want the bass to override my highs, I'm looking for loudness and crystal clearness. I do have the hp on. I'm going to try the 450-50uf np.
