im putting in a new hu and i know i need a interface, but i really don't know why. the car is a friends and when he asked me why i didn't know what to tell him. if some one could explain please! and is the OEM2 by PAC ok for this car. i read that this is a interface that i could use for pretty much any car???

use an amp interface module and a normal nissan harness and you'll be set. A better option is to bypass the bose amplifiers, simply by taking the signal wires that go to the speakers (normally purple and yellow in the front doors) cut and connect them directly to the speakers, do the same for the rear speakers and then connect the deck without an integrator directly to your factory harness using the nissan adapter. Maybe this sounds complicated, but it's really easy and most of the older nissans with bose need to have this done because the factory amp are failing anyway.

can you explain a little more? if i do it this way, will i need the interface? which way would sound louder and with the best quality? whats the pros and cons of both ways? i am keeping the factory speakers, is there any built in crossovers in the factory amp that blocks out the frequencys that could blow the factory speakers?
is there anyone that can explain why an interface is needed?

The reason for the amp interface is to turn down the signal from the new HU so it won't damage the factory Bose amps. Without the interface, the system will play loud but it will damage the amps. You will then have to replace them or bypass them all together as Kenmci is explaining
