I have a 1980 Chevy Malibu that was given to me and it has the stock AM radio with one speaker located in the middle of the front dash. Recently someone gave me an FM/AM cassette receiver from a later model Ford car (stock Ford stereo unit). Is there any way to replace my AM radio with the Ford radio without pouring tons of money into the change? If not, what are some economical options to add some kind of decent sound? I can live with what I've got, but it sure would be nice to at least be able to listen to some music in stereo (the AM stations here pretty much suck). I think I can handle adding speakers because there are holes in the back dash already (not sure about the front). Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!
Many thanks in advance.

It can be done, but why? Would it not be easier to trade your Ford unit for a GM. Getting the Ford harness will probably cost more than an old GM radio. Try a local wrecker or shop, see if they will trade.

Why not just get a FM/AM CD player. You can find a good one for under $100. Chances are you will want to upgrade in the future anyways.
