I remember someone on here saying that they used some specilaty hardware that needed a special keyed tool to remove them. Like one way screws but something that you can remove without drilling out. I did a few searches but couldn't find anything. Anyone have any idea where to get something like that? ------------- BOOM, BOOM, BOOM BOOM....

Those security socket sets work just fine, and do deter the average theif.
The screws / bolts you are reffering too, are named * ONE WAY'S *
I have been using them for over 15 years, in various project vehicles and home installations where security is paramount.
If I can locate the makers web link I will add it here for your to review.
I would like to stress to you, that installing / applying these sort of one way screws / bolts is a serious undertaking !!
Do not even think or consider using them, if the component / item needs to be removed or serviced at any point in time during its life cycle.
They are made from very high grade carbon steel, or titanium.
I can assure you, it will take countless hours, bits, and torching to remove them, and there is no guarantee that the said device will be intact from doing so.

anti-theft Torx should be fairly common... in fact they are so common here that anybody can buy the anti-theft Torx tool making them no longer viable for good security... strange, hey?

Hey Kevin What kind of places in town sell those? Thats all I am looking for is a little better security than just allen/hex bolts. My car is never left anywhere where I or others cannot hear or see it so theft is not a major issue. ------------- BOOM, BOOM, BOOM BOOM....

most muti-function hardware shops sell them... up here Canadian Tire, down there maybe a Pep Boys type of place.... any shop that speciailzes in automotive knick knacks, etc....

I would recommend that you purchase the *Snake Eye's* security screws. Looking from above there is only two little holes for the bit to screw on to.
I would advised you to purchase the SS screws for long term wear. The other none standard screws are the triangle shaped forms.
When you select the size which range from 1,2,3,4. Use the smaller (2) version. This makes other bits harder to grasp, if they are not of the same security bit.
Be prepared to pay a premium on these sort of screws. I average $150.00 per 100 box unit and I buy alot, so it might be worth your while to shop around, or have some friends do a group buy.
