I need a new amp and I'm wondering which would be the best for my budget. I have to 1100W Subs with Dual Voice Coils and their RMS is 300. I was thinking a 1000W 2 channel.

Xplod(i know but hey its a start) 1100W MAX 300W RMS @ 4 ohms

If they are d4s and 300w rms each..then you can wire them `series-parallel` and get a 4 ohm load...idealy you would get an amp that has an rms of 600w at 4 ohms x1

The Sony XM-DS1600P5 Class D amp will give you 500w @ 4ohm and will prob. keep you between 200-300. It wont max them out..but itll sound fine.

Would a punch 900W mono amplifier work. how  would i hook the subs in series-parallel. i know how to do series and then parallel but not both.

wire each sub + to + and - to -    then the positive from the amp to the positive of sub one     the negative of sub 1 to the positive of sub 2 the negative of sub 2 to the negative of the amp

Its a lot easier to give advice when you post the model number of everything in question.

If these are dual 4ohm voice coils here is an example of "series-parallel". This shows kicker subs but just use the "white dots" example to distiguish the voice coils.Voice coils are in series, then subs in parallel.

Also you don't want to run anymore than 300W rms to those sony subs if you plan to keep them for long.

I have 2 Kicker CompVR 4ohm DVC's wired like that now, but if you get an amp that's 2ohm stable in stereo simply wire each sub like this.

Finding an amp with 600W RMS @ 4ohm ain't gonna be cheap. Please post model numbers otherwise these replies could be completely useless.

jeffchilcott wouldn't that be a "parallel-series" configuration with the voice coils wired in parallel and subwoofers wired in series?

You get the same result of 4 ohms but woofers in series usually would end up with the wire connecting sub 1 + to sub 2 - left loose outside the box (if woofers are in separate chambers)... where woofers in parallel would have all wires to the amp. Just depends on the install.

Quote from bcae1.com

"You should remember:
1.In a series circuit, the current flow decreases and the impedance increases.
2.In a parallel circuit, the current flow increases and the impedance decreases."

I wouldn't even quote the 1100 watt number.  Max wattage means very little, quote rms.  Also, you don't need to max out the RMS wattage rating to make your speakers sound good or even really loud.

well my subs are Xs-L101P5's and the amp I was using before it blew was a 4 channel Jensen PS745. I bridged it to a 2 channel which should give out a max of 180 W X 2 @ 4 ohms. I blew one channel. My cd deck is CDX-F5000.

I was thinking of getting a RF Punch 301s or 301M. I was also thinking of an MTX Thunder282.

Hifonics Brutus BX500DHERE
It does 500Wrms X 1 @ 1-ohm...will give each one of ur sony's 250W rms, got a subsonic filter too, and remote bass control (although that's dumb)....free 8 guage wiring kit, nice....

Oh yeah, don't forget to wire ur subs in parallel/parallel like THIS that way u get that 1-ohm load...

well every bit of info I found on the Sony Xs-L101P5 subs indicated they are single voice coil subs. The Xs-L105P5 woofers are dual voice coil.

Go double check the back of the speaker because sony's direct link thru crutchfield (they have no info on their site) says THIS

Well in that case, grab that JBL GTO 601.1, it does 600Wrms X 1 @ 2-ohms...Wire ur subs in parallel as shown HERE and that's a wrap, 300W rms to each sub...

Why do u want to use a 2-channel amplifier to drive subwoofers? Makes no sense, get a mono block amplifier and do it right.

The MTX amps and the RF amps are both not a great choice in this situation because neither one will produce the kinda power you are gonna want. I would look at the JBL amps, and if I remember right most of them are 1 ohm mono so your wiring could be simplified greatly. Check em out online and I know you can get a big ass JBL in your price range and I am sure you will be happy.

Rave, the new GTO JBLs aren't 1-ohm stable, the BPs were, and they are hard to find now.

the amp can be wired into 4 ohm Mono.

the LT980/2 can be.

ok, but u want to drive two 4-ohm subs, so 4-ohm mono is bridged mode, how u gonna wire both subs to that amp with out going down to 2-ohms? You can't and you'll fry the amp...Get a mono 1-channel amp, period.
