i'm currently running a kicker 12" L5 dvc with 300w RMS total for about 2 months now. i took the sub out a few days ago because it was making a really loud vibrating sound, with the volume turned up (not clipping). i found the insulation around the tinsel leads were torn since they were beating on the basket so much. does anybody know what might be causing this?? thanks.

The tinsel leads should never touch the basket. It could be a manufacturer defect. There are ways to fix the problem, but if you could get the sub replaced under warranty then that would be better.

I would try to get the sub replaced.

Is it coincidence that this is the same thing that happened to my neighbor.
