my moms jetta has the basic component set up  and her driver side woofer and tweeter kick out on bumps, , i took the panel off and there was no lose wires or anything, , it seems that the problem could be the woofer itself or is there an amp behind the woofer like the bose speakers??

I don't want to take the woofer out because its rivited to the door panel, , id rather not drill them out till i need to.

I have no experience with these VW's, ,never did an install in one yet, , so where's the amps?  It would be great if i could just throw in some type-s components to the factory system.

Lemme know how this car is set up.

Thanks!

The amp may be under the rear deck on the passenger's side, this may be a passat.

Is it Monsoon or non Monsoon??? If it's Monsoon, then amp lives in rear driver's side trunk near the CD changer, or under the rear deck.   Do both the mid and tweeter cut out, or just the mid?  Simplest test to do would be to pull the deck, and, while it's running, give it a couple smacks to jar it (may be a poor connection inside.)  It may just be the deck (VW decks aren't so hot to begin with).  Try thumping the door panel or slamming the door to jar the connections in the door itself.  Shouldn;'t be too hard to find the issue... but I'd start at the deck (easiest to change... the factory components don't sound all that bad at all).

its definately something in the door, , probably the connector behind the woofer.  When i hit the panel near the woofer it kickes back in.   Its the non-monsoon, , , just no name factory clarion system.

Im gona get her new components up front first, then maybe a new deck if the factory one isn't powerful enough.    It dosn't have to be loud, , it is my moms car haha.
