amp ground 88 vette

where is the best spot to ground an amp in a corvette since the body is fiberglass?, if anyone has experience doing audio systems in vette's, some help on this would be appreciated !

Try running it to the frame.

i ran it to the battery originally, end result- alternator whine. customer had an old school din and a half pioneer head unit with no pre outs, so i fed hi-level into a brand new mtx amp (which i provided), car came back, and i temporarly hooked up an alpine head with 5volt preouts and noise went away. i told the customer to get a new head unit and we will try that, so he got a new panasonic with 4 volt pre outs, only thing im worried about is even tho i tested it with my alpine, obviously the rca's i hooked up temporarly werent run permanantly, so im just crossing my fingers that when i install the new head and run the rca's i wont be picking up any noise along the way! so im just trying to cover all bases to avoid looking like an ass if he still has any noise with this new head unit. i had thought about running the ground to the frame, but wanted to try avoiding drilling a hole through the body of the car and running my ground through it to keep the ground length shorter than running it all the way back to the battery.

You nailed one of the primary reasons why in this particular vehicle I do not ground to the frame, if you already have to go to the battery and cut a hole for power, run the ground at the same time and avoid cutting an extra hole in the glass bottom. Pioneer is on my carp list for having really bad internal ground planes. These ground planes are a breeding ground for noise. This does not mean that the entire line is bad though. If you tried a different cd and had no noise, then either you had a bad LOC or a bad cd player. I do not anticipate a noise issue with the new Panasonic.

I was going along the line of keeping the amp grounds as short as possable.
