I have a Nissan pick up truck with a Blaupunkt reciever, alpine MRV F302 4 channel amp, pair of component speakers and small subwoofer (bridged). I am currently running one set of rca cables to the amp and splitting the signal to the speakers and subwoofer.

I bought a new Blaupunkt reciever that has a single rca output for the subwoofer. Is there any advantage to using that instead of my current configuration?

If I do use the recievers filters, what should I set the amps filters at?

99% of the time this dedicated sub output also has a separate level control for it. Read the cd player manual to see if this is so. Some sub outputs are mono, thus as you have a single sub, all you need is the single bridged mono input on your amp. You already have filters in the amplifier that are set. I would probably not use the filters in the cd player myself unless it is necessary for the subwoofer preout.

I would use the sub pre-out. I use mine to 1. Adjust the level of bass according to the music i am listening to (this way you can set your eq and not touch it) 2. I use my crossover with the headunit and the one on the crossover. I set my high pass filters low (60hz) and the low pass filters high (120hz) and then use the headunit filters to further filter. This seems to help with bass frequencies. Have you ever had someone talking and got a humming sound from the sub? I can turn my amp down low enough to stop it, but then i loose some response i want in that range. So I have the deck set to 80hz, and i never get a humming sound and i get that extra bit of frequency response i want. Anyways, i would use it if I were you, and mess around with it, you will probably be happy you ran that extra RCA once you get adjusted to it.

what model of Blau is it? does it have an adjustable sub output or is it just a fixed non-fading pre-out?

It's a Blaupunkt Seattle. I think it's fully adjustable.
